Cochlear Implant

  1. The First 48 Hours:
    Leave the bandage in place. If the bandage seems to slip off the head, snug it down back in place. Remove the bandage after 24 hours.
  2. You may shower and hair may be washed but the incision must be kept dry for 10 days. After 10 days it is okay to get the incision wet.
  3. Some dizziness, nausea and vomiting may be experienced after surgery.
  4. Make an appointment to see the doctor 7 – 10 days after surgery. Stitches, if necessary, will be removed at this visit.
  5. You should have an appointment with the audiologist at 4 weeks after surgery for your initial stimulation (turn on).
